Dar es Salaam. Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) is affordable to everyone in Tanzania, the executive Director of Taifa Gas Ltd Mr. Hamis Ramadhani said on tuesday June 25in Dar es Salaam.

Speaking during the launch of the company’s gas machine and warehouse today, Mr Ramadhan said any Tanzanian who can afford charcoal can also use LPG cooking energy.

“Users spend Sh60 to Sh100, 000 per month while LPG users can spend only Sh45, 000 to Sh50, 000” he said However, uses of LPG per person in Tanzania is still low with an average of 1.5kg per year, compared to other neighboring countries including Kenya 5.4kg, South Africa 7kg, Sudan 12kg and Misri 30kg.

LPG is growing at the rate of 25 percent but Taifa Gas Limited is positive to increase the growth rate of 50 percent in the near future.
So far, the company’s investment is Sh150bn, according to what he said.
